What to Make?

I have been craving some spicy noodles.

I struck out yesterday while trying a new Chinese restaurant. They were celebrating their Grand Opening Under New Management! The sign seemed to plead to please come in, we’re not as bad as we used to be. I had high hopes. I placed my order directly from the menu, no substitutions, no special requests. There was no language barrier. I also pointed to the items on the menu while placing the order. There were four kinds of soup available and I asked if they were in a cup or a bowl. A bowl, I’m told. I asked if they served the soups in cups too? Yes, they do. Good, that is what I want.

I knew I was in trouble when over the next 30 minutes, a variety of servers came to check on my order six times. Six times! After about half an hour, my soup came out….in a bowl. I said, “No no, I ordered a cup, remember?” The server stared at me blankly and left the bowl of soup.

After another 20 minutes the main dish arrived. I’m not sure what was served to me but it wasn’t what I ordered and it was sweet. I do not like sweet dishes unless I’m after dessert. I didn’t eat much and had them box up the leftovers. When I got home the leftovers went right into the trash since I knew I wasn’t going to be eating it.

Today when faced with my continued craving for some spicy noodles with sesame oil and hmm, what else do I have in the kitchen?  I wasn’t in the mood to run to the grocery store so I checked to see what I have on hand:

  • Ground Chicken
  • Serrano Peppers (one was sliced and one was diced)
  • White Onion (sliced)
  • Green Onions
  • Garlic
  • Sesame Oil
  • Soy Sauce
  • Spaghetti

Craving Satisfied.

You know it Mrs. Beans! I haven’t had any type of noodle or and rice (with shoyu and furikake) in almost 4 weeks now. That makes auntie very grouchy.
Hope you saw my last post, I shared Haole Brownies 😉 or Caramel Cuts with some friends in Prescott.

The “Grand Opening Under New Management” didn’t sound too grand. I suspect you’ll probably end up making your own favorites.
