This morning I dug out my slow cooker. I cut a red onion into large chunks and lined the bottom of the crock pot. I liberally sprinkled a whole chicken with Weber Beer Can Chicken Seasoning and tucked it into the slow cooker. I set it on High where I left it for the next 7 hours or so.
I wasn’t satisfied with the lack of browning so I prepped it to go into the oven for a few minutes.
I washed and sliced up two russet potatoes so that I could make some oven fries. After slicing I dried the potatoes well and put them in a roasting pan. I doused them in olive oil and salted and peppered them. Into a 450 degree F oven they went for 35 minutes.
In the last 15 minutes on the fries, I put the chicken into the oven for a little browning.
The chicken was fall off the bone tender. The whole meal was pretty inexpensive. A whole chicken was under $5 and the cost of two potatoes was nothing.
I plan on making chicken noodle soup with the leftover chicken.
uh, chicken jook with fresh ginger, ONO! ding ding ding, I have the turkey bones leftover from Thanksgiving still in the freezer… ALOHA Mrs B!
Aloha!
