Kick Back, Put Your Feet Up
Hello and welcome! My name is Rita.
Life is about good food. I love food. I have been taking pictures of the food I eat for years but only a few years ago did I organize it into a blog. Meals on this site range from breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack – which I think pretty much covers it. Often it’s something I’ve fixed at home but I am known to take pic of my food while in a restaurant much to the chagrin of those at my table.
Sometimes I include a brief ‘how-to’ on preparation but mostly it’s just photos. When I cook I don’t really follow a recipe but use it more as a general guide and enhance it with a little bit of this, a bit of that. Any opinions I give of a restaurant and their food are just that, my opinion.
I love spicy, flavorful food. Bland dishes need not apply. I would probably use jalapeños or Serrano peppers in every meal if I could.
Until recently, I lived in the Rose City —- Portland, Oregon, where it rains 472 days of the year. I now live in Southern Colorado.
I think a vodka martini is da bomb. |
Thank you for following HoB. Much appreciated! I’ll be hanging around here…
Thank you for dropping by, Herman. You are so darned cute that I’m sure one of my 3 cats would invite you to the prom.
Hey Rita,
Back on your site just cruising around. Should have know better. I stumbled onto your “Chili Verde with Pork” recipe which would have sent me to the store for a pork roast at 8PM, except I am 2.5 months into a vegan diet imposed by my GP.
I’ve promised myself that if the diet does not bring “the numbers” down, that this is the first “real food” that I will make to compensate for a couple of months of grains, legumes and vegetables.
I can’t complain, Carol is an excellent cook – case in point tonight’s dinner: vegetable curry with fresh-ground spices and all vegetables, fresh or frozen, from last summer’s garden – but it ain’t pork. I’m a Democrat, but Palin did get one thing right – “…if God didn’t intend us to eat animals, then why did he make them out of meat?”
Again, thanks for your great work curating the site. Wonderful recipes with excellent photos and guidance, and compelling commentary and humor.
My goodness, I’m not sure why I am only now seeing/noticing this. Thank you so much!

Dear Mrs Beans, I tried to post to your Q2 item in Ginger the cat but no more comments could be taken so if you were the mom of Q2 just wanted you to know this beautiful kitty is being honored this week in s special remembrance slideshow. If aimed this right, you’ll want to see it and here is the link: http://peachesandpaprika.blogspot.com/2016/02/blogger-rainbow-bridge-remembrance.html
Sorry to write this here because it’s about fur, not food, but thought you’d like to see the show if you haven’t already. Carol, Peaches and Paprika.
Thank you so much for including Q2 in your wonderful tribute! It was very nicely done and very special and touching. We appreciate it very much. Q2 was a much loved girl and we miss her immensely.
